VRC Flags Scullers Head 2003

Pure Sports Medicine. When you're injured, in pain or just mysteriously underperforming

The 50th Scullers Head

A processional race for single sculls over the 4.25 mile championship course from Mortlake to Putney. First sculled in 1954, this year's race - the fiftieth staging of our event - will involve 500 Scullers and has attracted entries from all over the United Kingdom and the world, with standards ranging from internationals to novices.

The 2002 race was rewarded with more entries than we were allowed to race with. Apologies to all those who missed out - make sure your entries arrive earlier next time around!

2003 Draw

The draw for the 2003 Scullers Head is now available.

Summary of online entries

If you entered online - view a summary of your entries.

Collecting Numbers

Scullers can review where their number can be collected.

There are three collection points for numbers, in Putney, Hammersmith and Chiswick. It is vital that you review this information as time will be short on the morning of the race if your number is not where you expect it to be.

Instructions for Competitors

Instructions for competitors are now available to view online or as a PDF document. They will also be emailed and posted to the named contacts who submitted entry forms or entered through this website.

Please note There are two changes to the instructions that have been sent out in the post (and still in the PDF version): the lightweight level for women is 61.0kg, not 61.5kg, and the prize-giving will be on Thursday 11th, not Wednesday 10th.

The safety map is also available to view online or as a PDF document.

T-Shirts

T-Shirts with the specially commissioned 50th race logo will be available to buy on the day. Email Paul Musgrave to reserve yours!

A small number of 2002 t-shirts are still available - email Jeff to buy one!

Errors and Omissions

Note: A few mistakes had been pointed out to us after the publication of the initial draw which has entail some amendments. If there are still issues I have missed, please tell me.

Please note that we appreciate that there are a significant number of disappointed entrants. We have put 550 names into the draw - but have received over 700 entries. As in previous years we had made efforts to warn competitors that we normal over-subscribe our event and so if your entry was received in the last week before (or after) the closing date it was at risk of being excluded. This situation was not helped by the postal strike which held up a lot of our correspondence. Additionally if there were any issues with your entry this would have jeopardised your chance.

I entered online but I'm not in the draw!

I'm sorry. That's you and a hundred others. On the screen you saw after entering your details it said that you entry was not complete until your payment was received - and even then, with the postal strike not helping, there were many whose cheques were received after the deadline, if at all.

What if want to withdraw?

I'm sorry. Because we cannot substitute entries we cannot refund your fee. If you'd like to tell me, then it would save a bit of admin.
