VRC Flags General Safety Procedure

A re-print of the e-mail Jim sent to the squad mailing lists. Any problems, send him an email ...

With the new season beginning a quick note on safety.

A) If there is any damage to one of the boats we need;

1) The damage noted on Dave's board, so we can quickly fix it.

2) If there has been a collision with another boat (be it from our club or especially any other) please fill in an incident report form which will be available from the office, from this weekend. This gets sent to the ARA and covers us legally.

B) A quick reminder that lights are now required for evening outings - a steady white light fore and aft (not flashing, nor any colour other than bright white ie not that greenish tinged white you get with many bike lights).

C) A recent River Users meeting has highlighted that all boats should be named (club initials and a number is satisfactory). This was particularly addressed to single scullers. I know it sounds pointless, but it is for emergencies and disciplinary issues and carries a possible 1000 pound fine. They also wanted to remind scullers that they should not "hamper" larger vessles?!?
