News from the Club
Borne @ Chiswick regatta wins
The Vesta novice men and women raced at this local regatta on Saturday, but the star performer was Peter Simpson who won two pots in the NV 2x and the Vet D 2x. Well done to him and his two crew mates, James Weatherstone and Paul Mew.
Vesta goes to Ghent
Twenty rowers, two coaches and two coxes travelled to Belgium on Friday for a weekend of racing in Ghent. Saturday is the International Belgian Rowing Championships and Sunday is the KR Sport Gent Regatta. Both days provide very high quality club racing with crews from all over Europe, including Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany, Ireland and the UK.
We enjoyed the sunny, warm weather but our crews also had some hard racing. The highlight was Cheryl Gilliver's gold medal win in the W Lwt 1x. Thanks to everyone who helped out in the organisation of our trip and its smooth running. It was fantastic to see the club spirit extend beyond the UK!

Jon wins at Wallingford
Jon Brown took home his novice sculling pot from Wallingford Regatta on Sunday, winning in some style. In a tremendously competitive field, Jon powered through from 4th to 1st place in the last 1000m. What a quality win!
Meanwhile in the other races, Vesta started the regatta season solidly, particularly in the W2x, where Charlie and Mary came 2nd in their first race together and the WS4+, which also came 2nd.
It was a long day of racing and well done to all involved for their hard work in making sure the day went smoothly.

Novice win at Chiswick
Congratulations to the novice women's eight which won their first pots at Chiswich Amateur Regatta on Saturday. The girls beat another Vesta crew amongst others and finally won against Emmanuel School by three lengths. This is testament to the depth of the novice / intermediate women's group that they have two competitive eights running this summer. Well done to coaches, coxes and rowers.
Also I'm missing results from other crews at Chisiwck, so if you can fill any gaps here then please email me through the webmaster address.
Noel Casey honoured by the ARA
Back in March Noel Casey was awarded an ARA medal of honour. Noel is a long-time Vesta member, rower and coach and he's the first member to receive such an accolade. Click here to read a tribute.
Vesta Hawaiian Party 17th May 19:30
